Pencil Lines
Thoughtless carpets.
Draw many lines
And make them straight
Or maybe somewhat
Skewed and bent,
|
They must be tall
As you imagine
Them brushing walls
A hush of pleasure,
|
Continue tracing
Pencil walks
On vellum surface
Of your thoughts,
|
The lines may take
You distant places
Walking through forests
Soothes your senses,
|
How far is farthest
You have travelled
Forgetting all those
Reasons waiting…
|
Yet only single
Thread holds webbing
Once gently pulled
You’re back to pencil.

Getting lost in traced lines that turn into forests and distant unnamed places works because there's always one thread left un-pulled. That's not a limitation on the imagination. It's what makes returning possible at all.
